How to Scale
If you have ambitious growth plans for your business, then are you sure that your IT systems will cope? How can you avoid any nasty surprises?
Why is scale important for IT?
Every business wants to grow. However, unmanaged and unplanned growth can lead to difficult business problems ranging from a stressed management team, to operational issue, unexpected costs and slow you down when taking on new customers.
Not only do you need to plan for budgeted growth plans, but you should consider what might happen if you get some unexpected, but welcome, publicity.
What we do?
First, we review your business requirements, plans for growth and your willingness to accept risk. Then we look at your existing systems and processes. We identify the key metrics that should be used to monitor the state of your IT systems. We then look for the pinch points in the system and which parts are likely to cause scaling issues in the future. If the current architecture shows signs that it will not cope with the planned growth, we develop options for either optimising the systems as they stand to get the maximum possible performance form them, or work out designs for replacement or updates that will provide the scaling required. If appropriate we can also look for methods of load-testing the existing or planned solution to prove its designed capacity limits.
